Downloading antivirus program?

is there any free and most importantly reliable website i could download antivurs from? i don't know much about computers, so i'm looking for something good that won't damage it somehow, thanx a lot

Avast. I like it and some people like AVG. Personally I like the user interface and the ability to do a boot time scan right from the menu.
